Jake’s grandfather, Blanche Peavy, taught him about baseball, music and life: the meaning of focus and the importance of getting up when life knocks you down. These are the same values that the Peavy family brings to this Foundation.

The critical period in Jake’s own life began at the age of fourteen, when Blanche Peavy died. Four years later —thanks to hard work, the support of family, and the lessons his grandfather taught him—he was drafted into the San Diego Padres.

This is also a critical period for many young people, when they are most in need of mentoring and confidence- building activities.
